Railway Head Codes

Greeting card for trainspotters, illustrating railway head codes. Printed in England on a light cream, 300gsm carbon-neutral Italian paper, made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste.

Adapted from The Wonder Book of Railways for Boys and Girls, (c.1922). Outlining the system of lamps and discs used on the front of locomotives to identify trains, the book (published before the 1923 railway company amalgamations) explains that ‘every railway has its own system of head codes but there are nine which are used by nearly all with the same meaning’.

All our greeting cards are 170mm x 120mm (approx. 5” x 7”) and blank inside, individually wrapped in a compostable wrapper made from plants, with a 100% recycled, 110gsm kraft envelope.
