Map of Chicago Gangland (poster-wrap)

Pack of 15 sheets of poster-wrap. 49cm x 70cm.

Rare cartoon map of Chicago’s ‘Gangland’ showing territories and key locations of mob activity during the era of Al Capone, the city’s most notorious gang leader . Published towards the end of prohibition and just as Capone’s dominance was fading, the map was banned by city councillors who sought to improve Chicago’s reputation as one of the most dangerous places in America. Not surprisingly, the artist never revealed his identity.  Adapted from ‘A Map of Chicago Gangland from Authentic Sources’, Bruce-Roberts, Inc. (1931). Courtesy Geographicus Rare Antique Maps.
